Incubated at UPTEC - Science and Technology Park of University of Porto
BOAH NOVA was founded and originally incubated at UPTEC - a community of designers, engineers and researchers. That academic and technical proximity shaped how we work from day one: keeping design and production under one roof, testing ideas through rigorous iteration, and building with long-term integrity.
Supported by Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan
Part of BOAH NOVA's growth has been supported through Portugal's Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) — public investment aimed at modernising and strengthening Portuguese industry. For us, that support went toward what matters most: staying in Leça da Palmeira, keeping production in-house, and growing at our own pace rather than someone else's.
Member of AIPI - the Portuguese Lighting Industry Association
BOAH NOVA is a member of AIPI (the Portuguese Lighting Industry Association), the national association of Portugal's lighting manufacturers. It places our workshop in Leça da Palmeira within a wider community of Portuguese producers, built on shared competence, standards and a tradition of lighting manufacturing that runs deeper than any one brand. For a studio that designs and builds every piece by hand, that membership is a natural extension of what we already believe - that craftsmanship, know-how and care are things worth building together, not apart.
