In 2020, a group of friends whose pasts had crossed in the lighting industry came together again, driven by their passion for lighting and design. It was in this context that Boah Nova was born, under the initiative of Fernando Santos. Inspired by collaborative spaces he was involved in, while living in San Francisco and Helsinki, such as the Stanford’s Design Research Center and Aalto’s Design Factory, Boah Nova was envisioned as a creative hub where the talent and creativity of new designers could flourish collaboratively. At Boah Nova, a love for design and an incessant search for beauty in the development of new lighting products are at the heart of everything that is done.

We believed that it would only make sense to create a company if we could do so with full respect for our ideals. For us, a company must, above all, improve the lives of its customers through its products, while ensuring stable financial results. These are not the ultimate goal, but rather an essential condition for operating responsibly. This responsibility involves valuing all the people who collaborate with us. We offer good working conditions, promoting well-being, professional development and work-life balance. Furthermore, we choose to work with partners who share the same values.

Another essential dimension of our work is environmental responsibility. Respect for the environment is present in all our decisions and processes, being a fundamental commitment for us. Finally, we believe that a company must be guided by an ethical and coherent stance in its relationships with customers, partners and other entities. More than a business, we want to have a positive impact on society and the world. It was with this vision that Boah Nova was born, grew and continues to develop its activity to this day.

These convictions underlie all our activities and are reflected in multiple ways in the most diverse actions we take. These include, for example, the initiative to plant a tree for every lampshade we sell. We do not do this to use it as an advertising argument, nor to convince anyone to buy our products. We do this because we believe that this is yet another way for our activity to truly have a positive impact on the world.

For each lampshade sold, a tree is planted.

There is something magical in bringing a new artifact to the world. But it is also a great responsibility. In a world of fast production and consumption, Boah Nova contributes to a sustainable approach in the interior design world by creating timeless and durable lighting products that are not the result or victims of trends.
